Who plays Moothon in Lokah Chapter 1? New poster officially confirms superstar playing the role

The makers of Malayalam's latest film, Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra, has extended their wishes to Mammootty on his 74th birthday today (September 7). With this, they have also confirmed that the Malayalam megastar is playing Moothon (The Elder) in this fantasy thriller. 

Mammootty as Moothon in Lokah

The new poster features a shadowy sight of the mysterious character Moothon holding a stick that looks like one that is possessed by the Egyptian moon deity Khonshu in Marvel's Moonknight, which is available for streaming on JioHotstar and OTTplay Premium.

After only a brief preview of Mammootty's voice in Lokah, people became curious if he was playing Moothon (The Elder). In the meantime, the film has disclosed some of the parts played by prominent actors including Sunny Wayne and Tovino Thomas. The new poster wishing Mammootty a happy birthday was released by the Lokah cast and crew. "I just hope with this film, we’ve made him proud," wrote Kalyani Priyadarshan on her Instagram page.

Moothon speculated to be Lokah's main villain

In this fantasy thriller, a peek of the character who plays Moothon (The Elder) was unveiled, and his voice reveals that Mammootty is portraying the role. However, nothing about this character or his relationship to Chandra, also known as Neeli, has been disclosed by the film's creators. Moviegoers are left guessing as to whether his character will ultimately become the main antagonist of the franchise. On social media, fans of the actor and moviegoers made speculations about this topic.

Some argue that the primary threat is Ishtar, a powerful female warrior character who fights Moothon as shown in the first visual montage of Lokah and whose name is spoken right at the beginning. Many are anticipating a confrontation between Moothon and Ishtar, in which he would be depicted as the more malevolent entity or as the one who needs to step up and restore order during the chaos.
