Malayalam's latest movie, Lokah, is still doing well in theatres throughout the world, setting multiple box office records. In the meantime, social media was buzzing with rumours that it will shortly be released online. The film's creators have since denied these reports, stating that it won't be accessible digitally anytime soon.
Lokah OTT release update
Lokah is still performing very well at the box office 23 days after its theatrical release, with an increasing number of people returning to see the fantasy thriller on big screen. It is clear that this streak of commercial success may have influenced the producers to decide upon exceeding the 40-day window for the film's OTT release, even though other Malayalam Onam movies, like Hridayapoorvam, have already declared their digital debut soon. Additionally, they have not verified which online platform has acquired or plans to acquire Lokah's digital rights. It is now reported that the film might make its online debut during Puja holidays.
Reports were up claiming that the movie will be accessible in Netflix from the end of September in multiple languages. Neither the platform nor Lokah's creators have verified this information, though.

Lokah surpasses Empuraan's box office collection
While Empuraan's collection stood at Rs 266.81 crore as of the beginning of Day 23, Lokah's worldwide collection is now above Rs 268 crore. The movie just broke the box office records set by Thudarum, Mohanlal's other hit that released this year. This fantasy thriller also achieved the mark of being the highest grossing female-oriented film in South India.
Before its online release, it is expected that this film will shortly surpass the Rs 300 crore milestone. In addition to Naslen and Kalyani Priyadarshan in lead parts, Durga Vinod, Chandu Salimkumar, Tovino Thomas, Dulquer Salmaan, Arun Kurian and Sam Mohan play important parts in this fantasy thriller. The Dulquer Salmaan-backed movie released along with Mohanlal's Hridayapoorvam, Fahadh Faasil-starrer Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira and the romantic comedy, Maine Pyar Kiya during Onam this year.
