Director Lokesh Kanagaraj's Kaithi, which had Karthi in the lead, along with Narain, Arjun Das, George Maryan and Dheena in pivotal roles, is now all set to release in Russia. This was Lokesh Kanagaraj's second directorial after his maiden venture Maanagaram, which was critically acclaimed. The makers are now releasing the film in Russia titled 'Узник' (pronounced Uznyik), which translates to prisoner. The film is releasing in 121 cities in Russia and 297 screens across the country.

The film's producer SR Prabhu took to his social media page to share the news. He wrote, "121 cities 297 screens #Узник #Kaithi releasing today in #Russia @Karthi_Offl @Dir_Lokesh @4SeasonsCreati1 @DreamWarriorpic (sic)."

In the meantime, Lokesh, too, dropped a video clip about the film. "We are happy and excited that the film is getting released in Russia. Kaithi is a film which is very close to our heart because we put a lot of effort to create it. We are looking forward to know what you think about the film."

The film's lead actor, Karthi stated that this was his film to release in Russia and that was excited, too. He stated in a video clip, "Uznyik is my first venture in Russia and I am really excited about it. I am very sure that the film will live in your hearts. Dilli is one of the rarest characters I have played and it allowed me to do some crazy action. Thanks to Lokesh, the film's director, who came up with a water-tight script. It has some arousing action and strong emotions, too. The film was well received in India and people loved it. It has a beautiful story. I hope you all enjoy in theatres. The power of cinema can bring people from all walks of life together. "

Interestingly, the Japanese version of the film, which was titled Kaithi Dilli had hit screens in Japan on November 19, 2021. SR Prabhu and Tiruppur Vivek bankrolled the project under the banner Dream Warrior pictures in association with Vivekananda Pictures.
