Lokesh Kanagaraj says his project Irumbu Kai Maayavi with Suriya will happen soon

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj in a recently interview to a YouTube portal confirmed that his project Irumbu Kaai Maayavi with Suriya in the lead, was very much on. The director revealed that the pre-production work was in full swing for 8 months. He stated that his association with Suriya dates back to the days, when he was just making the inroads in the film industry with his debut directorial Maanagaram and Karthi's Kaithi. He said that he would often meet the film's producer SR Prabhu in his office and that he would also meet Suriya.

Lokesh added that though he had narrated a number of stories to Suriya, many didn't materialise due to various factors. However, he stated that Irumbu Kai Maayavi, which was announced much earlier didn't happen because Lokesh was not confident about making the film. "It was I who told Suriya sir that I had only done a small film like Maanagaram and that I was not confident enought to pull off a film of Irumbu Kaai Maayavi's scale." Lokesh said that he had told Suriya that he will make the film when he musters the confidence to do it.

Talking about Suriya's character in Vikram, the film's director Lokesh says that it was a very bold and atrocious character, something that Suriya had not done before. He stated that though Suriya didn't have much time to prep for the role, as he was shooting for other films, he quickly adapted to the character. He added that Suriya called the experience quite an adventurous one while leaving the sets.

Suriya's presence in Vikram was kept under the wraps until Lokesh Kanagaraj finally revealed the same on the audio and trailer launch event of the film, much to the delight of fans. Lokesh also shared a picture of Suriya with the Vikram team. He captioned it, "More than Happy to welcome @Suriya_offlSir 🤗 Into the World of #Vikram 🔥@ikamalhaasan @RKFI #VikramFromJune3 (sic). " The trailer also gives a sneak peek of Suriya's scene in the film and since then, fans of the actor are going ga-ga over the same.
