Lokesh Kanagaraj set to rope in Rajinikanth's arch on-screen nemesis for Thalaivar 171?

The latest buzz suggests that director Lokesh Kanagaraj is putting together a solid supporting cast for his next movie, Thalaivar 171, starring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role.

According to the latest speculations, Lokesh has roped in Shruti Haasan and Sathyaraj to play key roles in the movie. An official confirmation on the same is awaited.

If the rumours are true, Thalaivar 171 will mark a second collaboration between Lokesh and Shruti. The duo earlier worked as co-actors in a recently released music video titled Inimel . The independent music video was conceived, composed, and performed by Shruti. The song was written by Kamal Haasan, who also produced it under his home production banner, Raaj Kamal Films Internationals.

In Inimel, Lokesh plays Shruti's love interest as the song traces different stages of a couple's relationship. The video marked Lokesh's debut as an actor.

Will Thalaivar 171 mark an iconic reunion?

If the reports are true, then Thalaivar 171 will mark the maiden collaboration between Lokesh and Sathyaraj. However, it would be such an iconic onscreen reunion between Rajinikanth and Sathyaraj.

Rajinikanth and Sathyaraj have worked together in several films during the early days of their careers in Tamil cinema. Their most notable collaboration was in Mr. Bharath. In the 1986 family drama, Rajinikanth played Sathyaraj's estranged son, who vows to take revenge on his father for betraying his mother. The funny rivalry song Ennamma Kannu between the characters in the movie remains iconic to date.
