Last seen in the Yami Gautam and Pankaj Kapur starrer film Lost, actor Yogesh Bhardwaj is playing a private detective (Rudraksh Roy) in his next - Yashpal Sharma’s upcoming psycho-thriller film Chhipkali. The movie is inspired by Vinod Ghosal’s book Chhayajapon.

Giving an insight into the character, Yogesh said that he tried his best to portray a detective in a distinct way and make it look different from the way they are generally presented onscreen. “Until now, I’ve played characters that are more related to normal life. But this character in Chhipkali is very flamboyant, a kind of role that I haven’t played before. This is the first time I am playing a parallel lead with an actor like Yashpal Sharma. It’s an urban character - a different sort of detective,” he elaborated. Yogesh was previously seen in movies like Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga, SP Chauhan, Satellite Shankar, Malaal and Chappar Phaad Ke.

Speaking about his experience of working with Yashpal, who has also directed the film, Yogesh said, “When you essay a lead character, you have to be responsible as other characters circulate around you. And now playing a parallel lead was a new responsibility for me, as you have another lead actor as well with whom you have to match up. Yashpal is known for his versatile roles, and it was a little intimidating for me, as well as a learning experience. So, mentally preparing myself for this was a bit challenging. Overall, it’s been an incredible experience, and we used to really work hard on scenes. He used to be always high on energy on set and to match his energy was a big task for me. His energy influenced me a lot to give my best.”

The story of Chhipkali starts and ends inside a house, which - according to Yogesh - was a challenge and also a unique experience. “It’s a unique script which will keep the audience intrigued. This is a very different psychological thriller,” the actor sums up.
