PC Shekar has done a variety of films, but he is best known for his romantic dramas, whether it is the Tamil flick Kadhale En Kadhale, or Golden Star Ganesh’s Romeo. With his next, Love Birds he returns to the genre and presents a family entertainer revolving around marriage and the transition this relationship brings about in the life of a man and a woman. For this, he’s got real-life husband and wife Darling Krishna and Milana Nagaraj in the lead, to play a newly-married couple and take audiences through the ups and downs in their relationship.

Speaking at a song launch of the film, the filmmaker had said, “There is a dearth of family entertainers, which is why I set out to make Love Birds. In human life, marriage is a transition phase for a man and woman, and, if one or both parties are also setting up a separate family unit, that can be a situation with a lot of emotional happiness. It has been a long-standing desire to convert this happiness into a song – a marriage song to be precise. I got that opportunity with this film. The song, Neene Dhoretha Mele, was necessary in the film. Having Darling Krishna and Milana Nagaraj in my film was interesting because when I’d present any situation/scene, they would figure out a plan on how best to execute it.”

Love Birds, which has Shekar collaborating with music man Arjun Janya yet again, is set to release in theatres on February 17. The filmmaker has also managed to close the deal for its digital partner way before the theatrical release. A source tells us that Shekar has sold the digital rights to Amazon Prime Video. Details of the deal and when to expect the film on the platform are yet to be revealed.
