Love Birds teaser: Fans urge Darling Krishna to stop doing rom-coms that offer nothing new

Late last evening, the team of the upcoming Kannada film Love Birds released a teaser of sorts, which was more of a character introduction of its lead pair, played by Darling Krishna and Milana Nagaraj. As per the teaser of the PC Shekar directorial, Krishna is Deepak, a software engineer, who works hard during the week and then heads out for a spot of fun with his friends over the weekends. Milana, meanwhile, is Pooja, a budding fashion designer with her own brand. The character intro teaser sparked rumours that Love Birds is the Kannada remake of the Telugu film, Merise Merise.

Audiences, though, were less than pleased with the teaser, which, they felt, offered nothing new for a Krishna movie – he’s been doing the same thing in every movie and not even mixing up his look or styling. The overwhelming consensus has been that the actor ought to leave the rom-com genre behind and try his hand at something different. But Krishna has said in the past that he prefers doing rom-coms over thrillers, as they have repeat value, although his films in recent times have all failed at the box office (barring his directorials, Love Mocktail and Love Mocktail 2). The pairing of Krishna and Milana was also cited as an issue.
