Last evening, on the day of the film’s release, the team of the Kannada movie Shokiwala also dropped the video of one of its song’s, Ninnanu Nodaliga. This, as it turns out, is one of the most important songs from the film, as it cements the love story between the protagonists, Krishna and Radha, played by Ajai Rao and Sanjana Anand.
Written by Jayant Kaikini, sung by Santhosh Venky and Anwesshaa, the song, composed by Sridhar V Sambhram is a romantic duet picturized at a ‘maduve mane’, where Radha finally realizes she likes Krishna too. Ajai and Sanjana not only look good together, but also share immense chemistry in the song. The cinematography by S Naveen Kumar is, most definitely, one of the highlights of this song.
Shokiwala, produced by Crystal Paark Cinemas, is debutant director Jocky’s maiden film. The film, which is currently playing in theatres, is a love story that takes place in a village in Mandya. Krishna is the local Romeo in the hamlet, whose roving eye doesn’t spare any girl. His affections, however, are never reciprocated, until he chances upon Radha, the daughter of the richest man in the village. While she too isn’t immediately enamored by his overtures, she soon enough realizes that he’s got a heart of gold. But then, as is the case with all love stories involving protagonists of differing socio-economic backgrounds, here, her family is less than pleased at her choice and there is resultant tension. The rest of the narrative explores whether Krishna and Radha can find their happily-ever-after. This is Ajai’s first film with Sanjana and first rural subject as well.
Also on the cast of Shokiwala are Sharath Lohithashwa, Pramod Shetty, Aruna Balraj, Giri Shivanna, Muniraj, Lasya Nagraj, Vani, Chandana, Tabla Nani, Nagaraj Murthy, among others.
