Love Today actor Pradeep Ranganathan to replace Silambarasan in THIS film?

If the buzz is to be believed, Love Today actor Pradeep Ranganathan is all set to play the lead in director Gokul's next Corona Kumar. The film was initially supposed to have Silambarasan TR in the lead, but it seems like Simbu is busy with quite a few projects and hence, Pradeep will replace him. The film will be bankrolled by Ishari Ganesh and is said to be a sequel to Gokul's Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara which featured Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi and Nandita Shwetha in the lead.

Earlier speculations were rife that Corona Kumar has been dropped as Silambarasan TR was busy with many other projects. But the director had stated that he had no plans to shelve the film. Since Silambarasan is busy with Pathu , Corona Kumar continues to be on the backburner and the director seems to have made this decision. The film is said to be a dark comedy thriller.  Gokul is currently helming RJ Balaji's Singapore Saloon, which has the actor playing a hairdresser.

Pradeep, in the meantime,  is basking in the success of his last release Love Today, which was also written and directed by him. The film went on to become a major success and became a sleeper hit at the box office. Love Today marked Pradeep's debut as an actor and he was seen along with Ivana, who had earlier worked in Bala's Naachiyaar. The film also starred Sathyaraj, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena Ravi, Yogi Babu to name a few.

Silambarasan is busy with the post-production work of Pathu Thala, which is the Tamil remake of the Kannada hit Mufti, which starred Shiva Rajkumar, Srimurali and Shanvi Srivasatava. The Tamil version, helmed by Obeli N Krishna, has Simbu, Gautham Karthik and Priya Bhavani Shankar as part of the star cast. The film is bankrolled by KE Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green.
