Love & War set for August 14, 2026, release; Bhediya 2 postponed amidst growing competition

The highly awaited historical drama Love & War by Sanjay Leela Bhansali will not be released until March 2026, which is a major setback for the Bollywood film industry. The news broke originally on Bollywood Hungama, which said that production delays were to blame.

Now set to premiere on August 14, 2026, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. Kartik Aaryan's recently announced movie Naagzilla is another highly anticipated film, and with the new release date, Love & War will be competing with it. According to the entertainment portal, Naagzilla will be released on the same day.

Bhediya 2 delayed

Nevertheless, the release schedule is changing. The much-anticipated horror-comedy sequel Bhediya 2, starring Varun Dhawan (watch Badlapur), will now have to wait until a later date instead of being released with Love & War and Naagzilla next year. The entertainment outlet was informed by an insider that Bhediya 2 is experiencing a postponement. Producer Dinesh Vijan (watch Cocktail) and his crew at Maddock Films are already considering alternate release dates.

The insider said that if all three major films had premiered on the same day, screen sharing would have been a big issue. Love & War and Naagzilla can now share their arrival date thanks to the postponement of Bhediya 2. Both are giants with a star-studded cast and hail from different genres. As a result, it will undoubtedly captivate moviegoers and encourage them to visit theatres.

Release date of Love & War still uncertain

The source has revealed that the release date of Love & War is still up in the air. But the team is really hoping for an August 14 release. The insider stated that they will make a final decision shortly. The producers of Naagzilla are certain that the selected date will be successful. The proximity of Nag Panchami on August 17 will serve as a promotional tool for the film's snake motif. The source continued by saying that with Nag Panchami falling on August 17, they want to arrive on August 14.

Not only that, but there will be setbacks in the Maddock Horror Comedy Cinematic Universe as well. The original release date for Kiara Advani's Shakti Shalini was December 31, 2025, but the film has also been delayed.

With the production under Mahaveer Jain Films and Dharma Productions, Naagzilla will be directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and is set to deliver an original story to moviegoers.

As a result of the rescheduling of releases, August 2026 will see a major confrontation of high-budget films. An intriguing box office duel between Love & War and Naagzilla is definitely in the works for fans of both films.
