Loveyapa marks the silver screen debuts of Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film revolves around Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan's characters, who want to get married. Their Gen Z love story takes an unexpected turn when the bride's father challenges the duo to swap their phones for 24 hours. Ahead of the release, the director confirmed that Aamir Khan will have a cameo in his son's film.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, director Advait Chandan revealed that Aamir Khan will be making a cameo appearance in his son, Junaid Khan's debut film, co-starring Khushi Kapoor.
"He does. He's there for two shots. When you watch the film, you'll definitely see him," Chandan confirmed.
The director also admitted to having initial confusion about casting Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor in Loveyapa.
He told the portal, "My problem was that I was not sure of Junaid and Khushi's casting. I had never met Khushi before and I was unsure if Junaid would be the right fit for the role." But after spending time with them through rehearsals and readings, he gained confidence in their abilities.
Chandan also praised Khan and Kapoor for their professionalism on set. He said, "Junaid is very different from his character Gucci. He had to work very hard to find the Gaurav inside him."
As per media reports, the film will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar after its theatrical run. However, an official announcement of Loveyapa's OTT release is awaited.
In an interview with Indian Express, Junaid Khan expressed his wish to release his film Loveyapa on YouTube so that everyone can watch it for free.
"I would like our film to reach as wide an audience as possible. Left to me, I would like to put my film on YouTube and make it free for people. But that’s not a practical move. Our producers and distributors are experienced regarding this. They have a better understanding of how this film can reach a wider audience — be it theatre, OTT or television," he said.
Meanwhile, Loveyapa will hit theaters on February 7, 2025.
