PremiumLucas leaves K-pop group NCT and WayV, to pursue solo activities: SM Entertainment

On May 10, 2023, SM Entertainment revealed that WayV and NCT member Lucas would be leaving the group to focus on solo endeavours. He was also a member of SuperM. Lucas was involved in a number of controversies in 2021, including cheating, gaslighting, and other issues.
Announcing of his department, SM Entertainment said, "Hello, this is SM Entertainment. We notify you regarding the future activities of our artist Lucas. As a result of a serious discussion between Lucas and the agency, it has been decided that Lucas will leave NCT and WayV, and instead pursue solo activities. The decision was reached based on the belief that it was the best option to respect the other members and the fans, and thus, we ask for the understanding of all fans who have supported Lucas as a member of NCT and WayV".
Lucas too posted on social media, "After long consideration, I have decided to leave the group NCT and WayV. I'm really sorry to the members, and thinking about our long friendship, it's too sad. It's been 8 years since I've known the members, and I sincerely thank the members for taking care of me, and I won't forget that feeling. I hope that the members will remember me as Huang Shishi, not Lucas, and I really love the members and will always support them".
He further wrote, "I thought about it for a long time before deciding to leave, and I think this decision is for everyone. Now, for the fans who have been waiting for me, I muster up the courage to visit them through individual activities. I think constantly showing a better image is a way to repay the fans who support me".
He concluded by saying, "I will become a more mature Huang Xu Xi and a better Lucas in the future".
With this, WayV will continue as a 6 member group.
On the other hand, NCT has 22 members now — Taeyong, Taeil, Johnny, Yuta, Kun, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun, WinWin, Jungwoo, Mark, Xiaojun, Hendery, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, YangYang, Shotaro, Sungchan, Chenle, and Jisung.
