Lucifer stars Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Vivek Oberoi could be seen sharing screen space again in director Shaji Kailas’ upcoming ‘mass’ action entertainer Kaduva, reports suggest.
The upcoming film, scripted by Jinu V Abraham, has Prithviraj playing the lead of a rubber planter named Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan based in Mundakkayam who goes up against the police force in his area. Vivek Oberoi plays the role of a police officer and will be seen as the antagonist in the film.
Rumours now suggest that the movie could also have Mohanlal in a 10-minute cameo role. When Kaduva was being shot, Mohanlal and Prithviraj were also working together for the post-production of the latter’s directorial Bro Daddy. But it’s another coincidence that adds fuel to the rumour.
The film’s director Shaji Kailas had almost two decades ago planned on doing a film based on a similar theme that was set to be written by Renji Panicker. The movie was supposed to be on Jose Kuruvinakunnel, who had last year filed a legal complaint against the makers of Kaduva for allegedly doing a movie on him without his consent. The court, however, had dismissed the pleaTwenty years ago, when the movie was planned, Mohanlal was attached to play the lead. The movie, however, didn’t take off.
Incidentally, Kaduva marks the comeback of Shaji Kailas after a gap of five years. During the pandemic, the filmmaker had also worked with Mohanlal in Alone, which is a single-actor thriller set during the pandemic.
Kaduva, meanwhile, is set to hit theatres on June 30. The film also has Samyuktha Menon, Arjun Ashokan and Rahul Madhav as part of the cast. Whether Mohanlal is there or not, the film already has created a hype among fans of Prithviraj, who are eager to see the actor back in ‘mass’ avatar through the film.
