Lupita Nyong’o reveals her heartbreak due to split with Selema Masekela, post night out with pal Joshua Jackson

Lupita Nyong’o has announced a deeply personal and sad event of her life on Instagram. Though not directly named, the Black Panther actress has ended her post with #breakup. Both Masekela and Nyong’o have deleted all tagged and romantic photos of each other from their Instagram as well.

Though the ex-lovers can trace their acquaintance back to 2016, it was only in December 2022 that they became ‘Instagram Official.’ The Us actress admitted that the world has a lot of problems going on, however she has to get a load off her heart and admit the bitter truth to the world, “At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust... I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.”

Lupita Nyong’o is known to be very private about her personal life. Even in grief she gives reason for this cathartic confession, “I share this to keep it 100%, and hoping that the knowledge of my experience might be useful to someone else out there experiencing the grip of heartbreak who is poised to try and escape from the pain and miss out on the wisdom that comes from it.”

The details of the ‘deception’ are still not known, yet the intensity with which Nyong’o writes of her desire to run away from the pain, yet not doing so in order to forge her heart in courage to preserve its tenderness, makes one’s chest tighten with grief. The sports commentator ex-beau has not made any comments yet.

The actress was last seen at a Janelle Monae concert in Los Angeles, with actor Joshua Jackson, who has recently divorced Jodie Turner-Smith. But reliable sources have told TMZ that the duo were with a group of friends, and are just good ol’ pals.
