Kajol's upcoming mythological horror film, Maa, will hit theatres on June 27. Directed by Vishal Furia, the film is a part of Ajay Devgn's Shaitaan universe. According to the trailer, Maa looks promising, and it has a good number of horror elements. Ahead of the release, the OTT partner for the film has been revealed.
Kajol's mythological horror film, Maa, will be available for streaming on Netflix once the film is done with its theatrical run. Although the OTT partner is revealed, the release date is still under wraps.
The Bollywood industry has not explored the mythological horror genre much, hence Kajol's Maa has been getting attention. In the film, Kajol plays the role of a dedicated mother who must protect her daughter from an evil force. The story revolves around a mother-daughter road trip that turns into a horrific nightmare when they reach a cursed village linked to an ancient legend. The film explores themes of maternal power, ancient curses, and supernatural warfare.
It is directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande. The movie also stars Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, Kherin Sharma, and Jitin Gulati.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certified Maa with a UA 16+ rating, which means the film can be watched by people aged 16 and above, and parental guidance is required for younger viewers. Meanwhile, the movie has a runtime of 2 hours and 15 minutes (135 minutes).
Talking about the title, Kajol told IANS: “It’s the first word that most children learn to say, to feel, and to think, before anything else. You know, the first person a child turns toward is their mother. So it starts from there and just goes deeper and deeper.”
Meanwhile, Maa is all set to hit theaters on June 27, 2025.
