Rajkummar Rao has gone rogue in the recently released Maalik teaser. The actor has taken it too literally, for he only teases us about violence rather than actually showing us his out-and-out violent side in the teaser itself. Watch it here...

Rajkummar Rao is the boss in the Maalik teaser. He speaks of how there are two kinds of people and how he is the one who steals what he needs. It is his attitude that speaks volumes with Maalik, at least with the teaser. The last scene, in particular, is all about a man showing power over his people. It almost takes you back to how Gabbar controlled his men in the iconic movie Sholay.

About Maalik

Maalik is the Hindi version of Fahadh Faasil's Malayalam movie, Malik. The original film (direct-to-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video back in 2021) was directed by Mahesh Narayanan and also starred Nimisha Sajayan, Vinay Forrt, Jalaja, Joju George, Dileesh Pothan and Indrans in supporting roles. The movie itself was loosely inspired by the real-life incident of the 2009 Beemapally police shooting. Director Mahesh Narayanan had clarified that his movie was a fictional story inspired from real-life events.

The Hindi version, meanwhile, features Prosenjit Chatterjee, Manushi Chhillar, Medha Shankr, and Huma Qureshi in pivotal roles while Rajkummar takes the lead. Whether Maalik retains the essence of Malik or transforms into a new film, since the location shifts to Uttar Pradesh, remains to be seen. The film is now scheduled for a July 11 release.

Rajkummar Rao's switch from Bhool Chuk Maaf to Maalik

Rajkummar Rao was recently seen in Bhool Chuk Maaf. The romantic-drama, produced by Dinesh Vijan, starred Wamiqa Gabbi as the female lead. The movie came under controversy when Vijan switched the film's release module from theatrical to OTT, and had to release it in theatres again after the movie was put on hold.
