Maaman, the recently released Tamil family drama starring Soori in the lead role, has completed one day of run in theatres. The film is directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj of Vilangu fame, with the story written by Soori himself. Maaman has made a collection of Rs 1.75 crore on day one.

After playing powerful roles in films like Viduthalai, and Kottukkaali, comedian-turned-actor Soori, played the lead role in Maaman, a family drama. The film released in theatres on May 16, Friday. As per the Sacnilk report, the Soori film has collected Rs 1.75 crore on day one at the box office, across India. Even as the film collected a meagre amount, one has to wait over the weekend to know if the numbers will pick up.

Maaman is a family drama, which has a story written by Soori himself. The film is about the strong relationship between a maternal uncle and his nephew, and how the overtly possessive child becomes the reason for conflict between the uncle and his wife. Maaman is produced by Lark Studios and is currently running in theatres.

Maaman’s post-theatrical streaming rights of the film have been bagged by ZEE5 and will be available for streaming on OTTplay Premium once the film completes its theatrical run. The film also stars actors Aishwarya Lekshmi, Rajkiran, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Swasika, Baba Baskar, and Master. Prageeth Sivan, Bala Saravanan, Jaya Prakash, Viji Chandrasekar, Geetha Kailasam, Chaya Devi, Nikhila Sankar, Kalaivani Bhaskar, Melvin, Trichy Ananthi, Savithri, Saratha, Tamilselvi, Rail Ravi, Umesh Kanth. The film is shot by Dinesh Purushothaman, with music composed by Hridayam-fame Hesham Abdul Wahab. Ganesh Siva is the editor.

Maaman opened to middling reviews from critics. The film marks Soori’s first collaboration with the director. Soori had said earlier that the film is based on the events that he has witnessed personally in his life.
