Maaman is an upcoming Tamil film starring actors Soori and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the leading roles. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on May 16, and is directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj who had earlier helmed the critically acclaimed web series Vilangu. The trailer begins with Soori (who is playing the titular role of maternal uncle) running to his pregnant sister and sharing an update about the fetus. He says that the baby has grown ears and it should be his voice that will be first heard. Soon, we see how Soori becomes the doting uncle, right from holding him first at birth to caring for him in every aspect. Maaman introduces it to be a family drama before making a turn as an action film. But suddenly, a rift is created between the uncle and nephew. A painful separation happens, as we are reminded how strong their relationship is.
The cast of Maaman includes Rajkiran, Vimal, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Swasika, Baba Baskar, Master. Prageeth Sivan, Bala Saravanan, Jaya Prakash, Viji Chandrasekar, Geetha Kailasam, Chaya Devi, Nikhila Sankar, Kalaivani Bhaskar, Melvin, Trichy Ananthi, Savithri, Saratha, Tamilselvi, Rail Ravi, and Umesh Kanth. It is written and directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj, who earlier made the Vilangu web series.
