We had told you Vijay's film with Vamshi Paidipally, Varisu, was going to feature an ensemble cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Sarath Kumar, Khushbu, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Yogi Babu, Telugu actor Srikanth, Shaam, Sangeetha and others. The latest information is that SJ Suryah will be joining them. We don't know if it's going to be a negative role, but Varisu marks the fourth collaboration between the director-turned-actor and Thalapathy Vijay, following the success of Kushi, Nanban and Mersal.

Varisu, billed as a family drama, is produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations. The film has a tagline 'The Boss Returns', and it is set to enter theatres in January 2023, coinciding with Pongal. Surprisingly, Vijay's previous Pongal release was the hugely successful Master in 2021, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, with whom he will reunite after Varisu.

Thaman composed the soundtrack for Varisu, Kharthik Palani shot the film, and Praveen KL edited it. The film will be released in Telugu under the title Varasudu.

Varisu marks Telugu director Vamshi’s maiden Tamil venture. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Thalapathy plays an App Developer, named Vijay Rajendran, in this project.

When asked whether he has stopped receiving offers to direct films and if the industry is interested in seeing him as an actor, Suryah answers that he has been receiving requests to direct films since his debut Telugu directorial Kushi was released, but he is not eager to take it up at the time.

Suryah's main interest is acting, and his ambition was to become a hero. “Becoming an actor was my priority. When that did not happen at first, I resolved to become a director to make money. I made a mistake, and everyone believed the game was over. But, whether I was in the spotlight or not, I was working hard to achieve my goal. People believe that only success matters, but how can one become successful? Only after experiencing failures can success become a possibility,” he said, in an interview.

Suryah desired some alone time to reflect on himself. Whatever he did, he adds, he gave it his all. “You prepare yourself, things will happen,” he observed. I practised being a genuine actor. “You must first become a skilled actor before you can become a hero. A good actor with an ideology can play any character, but a good actor with an ideology is a hero. I am confident that this road will lead me to the correct destination,” he stated.

The actor cited Shahrukh Khan and Rajinikanth as examples. “After all, they rose to prominence donning negative roles. In my darkest hour, I sought to know myself and went through a journey of self-discovery without my knowledge. I was watching movies and comparing myself to local and Hollywood celebrities. You must first understand what you need before you can achieve your goal,” Suryah concluded.
