With the theatrical release of Maanaadu around the corner, fans of Silambarasan are excited to witness the never-before-seen avatar of the VTV star. Meanwhile, let's have a look at what director Venkat Prabhu had to say about working with the actor and other aspects of the political/time-loop thriller.
In an ETimes report, the director lauded Silambarasan’s acting talent and his dedication towards undergoing a physical transformation where he reduced several pounds in a couple of months. The actor insisted his old and new looks be featured in Maanaadu for his fans to see the transformation. Both the looks were managed and incorporated into the movie by the director.
He also shed light into the delay of Maanaadu’s release, which he believes will not impact the viewing experience of the movie. “Maanaadu will stay as a different genre of film in Tamil cinema’s history,” said Venkat Prabhu. He also encouraged filmmakers to attempt to make movies with new concepts for the Tamil film industry to evolve to the next level.
Maanaadu talks about a politician’s bodyguard who gets stuck in a time-loop and ends up at a political rally every time he shoots his boss. The rest of the movie will highlight how he breaks the pattern of the time-loop and solves the mystery behind it.
Also starring Kalyani Priyadharshan, SJ Suryah, Premji Amaren, SA Chandrasekhar and Karunakaran, among others in pivotal roles, Maanaadu marks the first time collaboration of Venkat Prabhu and Silambarasan in a full-fledged movie. The Podaa Podi star earlier made a guest appearance in the director’s comedy flick, Goa where he reprised his role in the film Manmadhan.
Maanaadu is all set to hit the big screens on November 25. Updates on its OTT release are yet to be announced.
