Maanaadu: Will director Venkat Prabhu not release trailer of Silambarasan starrer film?

Director Venkat Prabhu shocked Silambarasan or STR’s fans when he tweeted on a recent fan interaction that there won’t be any trailer for Maanaadu. The director was replying to a fan enquiring if they could have a ‘glimpse of Maanadu’ like they had a ‘glimpse of Valimai’ and the director replied: “even the trailer won’t be released”. This has left the fans shocked. But the director quickly understood the panic and corrected his typo.

Maanaadu will have Silambarasan in lead role with Kalyani Priyadarshan as the heroine. SJ Suryah will play the antagonist named Dhanushkodi. Kalyani Priyadarshan’s character is named Seetha Lakshmi while STR will come to the screen as Abdul Khaaliq. The movie is labelled as a political thriller and will mark SJ Suryah’s third villain role in 2021 after Nenjam Marappathillai and Sivakarthikeyan’s Don. The director and actor has been unusually quiet about the plot and theme of the movie even though there were several rumours when the first look poster of the movie was released.

Venkat Prabhu’s last venture was the anthology titled Kasada Thapara. Although it only had a short theatrical run owing to the COVID-19 crisis, the movie attained fame on SonyLIV where it digitally premiered and was appreciated for the discrete use of young actors even though the script was exceptionally simple.Meanwhile, STR has several movies to look forward to after the tiring failure of the commercial entertainer Eeswaran. He is currently working on Pathu Thala and Gautham Menon’s Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu.

Maanaadu is slated for release on Diwali 2021 i.e November 4.
