Maatarani Mounamidhi is the second film of director Suku Purvaj, the man who earlier helmed Shukra, the arresting thriller starring Arvind Krishna and Srijita Ghosh in the lead. In his next, the filmmaker is introducing two newcomers as lead actors, Mahesh Datta and Soni Srivastava. While the character/theme posters of the film hint at a refreshing romance, the director says it'll be a genre-bender of sorts with a lot of riveting twists and turns. Rudra Pictures and PCR Group jointly produce the film.
The first glimpse of Maataraani Mounamidhi was released today. It showcases a youngster's interest in a girl and the latter not being quite happy with his romantic advances. Shot amidst a surreal, idyllic hill-station backdrop, the glimpse introduces you to another pivotal character in the film played by Archana Ananth. A male character later threatens someone of not uttering a word about an incident and there's some tension in the proceedings. A series of shots indicate something sinister and by the time you want to know more, the glimpse is over.
While in the initial portion of the glimpse, Soni Srivastava appears to be quite forthcoming in her responses to the guy, there's a change in her tone afterwards. The silence and the creepy ambience prepare you for an intense plot and you're all the more curious when the male lead is lying unconscious on the floor. Asheer Luke's background score certainly creates an impact. Suman Shetty, Srihari Udayagiri and Sanjai Roy are also cast in important roles. The filming of Maataraani Mounamidhi was wrapped in a month's time.
Sivaram Charan has cinematographed the film with Ria Purvaj handling costume design. Balu is the executive producer. Maataraani Mounamidhi is slated to hit theatres shortly. The various singles in Maataraani Mounamidhi is expected to be launched in the coming days.
