Post the success of Siddhu Jonnalagadda's DJ Tillu, Sithara Entertainments released a comedy titled MAD featuring Jr NTR's brother-in-law, Narne Nithin, as one of the leads. The film was directed by Kalyan Shankar and ended as a smash hit at the box office.

Well, seeing the craze for the franchise, they announced MAD 2 on a bigger budget and promoted the film on a very aggressive note.
