Kalyan Shankar's youthful comedy entertainer MAD is slowly emerging as the hit of the season and the film's box office exploits are reflecting the same. Having garnered encouraging reviews from critics and audiences alike, MAD has been yielding similarly positive results at the box office and according to the latest updates, the film has managed to gross more than Rs. 11.5 crores in only five days.
One might reckon that these numbers aren't particularly flattering at first glance but considering that MAD boasts a young cast and that it is best categorized as a 'small budget' film, the numbers thus far are quite impressive. The same updates tell us that the film has grossed over $300k at the USA box office since its release on October 6th.
Written and directed by debutant Kalyan Shankar, MAD has been produced by Haarika Suryadevara & Sai Soujanya under the Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas banners. The film stars Narne Nithin, Sangeeth Shobhan, Ram Nithin, Sri Gouri Priya Reddy, Ananathika Sanilkumar and others with the story set against the backdrop of an engineering college. Following the great start to the theatrical run, the core cast and crew recently got together for a success meet amid the presence of the local media. While director Kalyan Shankar, who was closely associated with Jathi Rathnalu, spoke about Anudeep KV's film being the foundation for his film, Narne Nithin revealed that his brother-in-law and fellow actor Jr NTR watched the film on the very first day and that the RRR actor was elated to see him on the screen. The rest of the cast thanked the audience for showering love on the film.
