As per the Sacnilk report, Madharaasi's final worldwide collection is Rs 98.6 crore. The film grossed Rs 73.6 crore in India alone, with the overseas market contributing to Rs 25 crore. Considering AR Murugadoss’ last directorial before Madharaasi, Sikander was a flop at the box office, it is safe to say that with Madharaasi, the filmmaker has bounced back. The film occupies the sixth position among the highest grossers of Tamil this year, led by Coolie, Good Bad Ugly, Dragon, Vidaamuyarchi and Kuberaa.

Madharaasi is an action thriller which presents Sivakarthikeyan in a mass and commercial avatar never seen before. In the film, he plays an engineer who suffers from Fregoli delusion due to his tragic past, making him imagine anyone hurt or in danger look like his dead family members. When he gets spotted by an NIA officer, the latter uses him to bust a crime syndicate that is smuggling guns into Tamil Nadu.

The film’s cast includes Rukmini Vasanth as the female lead, and Vidyut Jammwal as the primary antagonist. Actors Biju Menon, Shabeer Kallarakal, Vikranth and others are also part of the cast. Madharaasi had a decent theatrical run, with music scored by Anirudh Ravichander.
