Madharaasi is an upcoming film starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role. The actor, who was last seen in the critically successful film Amaran last year, will be collaborating with filmmaker AR Murugadoss for the upcoming film. With the film scheduled to release on September 5, there are only 50 more days to go. Madharaasi’s OTT rights have been revealed and will be stream on a giant platform after its release.
Sivakarthikeyan who played a cameo role in Vijay’s The GOAT and got the ‘thuppaki’ handed over to him, is now working with Thuppaki director AR Murugadoss himself. Titled Madharaasi, the film is slated for a theatrical release on September 5, the same date Madharaasi released.
With only 50 days to go, the makers of Madharaasi released a new poster showing a rugged avatar of Sivakarthikeyan. Besides this, the film’s OTT partner has also been revealed. Prime Video has bagged the streaming rights and will premiere after the theatrical run.
The upcoming project is produced by the production banner Sri Lakshmi Movies, with Rukmini Vasanth playing the female lead. The cast also includes Vidyut Jammwal, Vikranth, Biju Menon, and Shabeer Kallarakkal, among others. Touted to be an action thriller, the film has music by Anirudh Ravichander.
It is crucial for Madharaasi to win big for AR Murugadoss whose recent Hindi film Sikander starring Salman Khan in the lead role, was a commercial failure.

On September 5, two other Tamil films will also be releasing. One of them is Bad Girl, directed by Varsha Bharath in her directorial debut. The film is a coming-of-age story of a teenage girl and is presented by Vetrimaaran. Meanwhile, there is also Vijay Antony’s action thriller Shakthi Thirumagan which is directed by Arun Prabhu Purushottaman. All three, Madharaasi, Bad Girl, and Shakthi Thirumagan will compete at the box office on September 5.
