Madharaasi OTT release date (tentative): Sivakarthikeyan and AR Murugadoss’ action film to stream soon

Madharaasi, the recently released Tamil action thriller starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, is currently running in theatres. As reported earlier by us, Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film, and is tentatively scheduled to make its OTT debut sometime in the first week of October.

The Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Tamil actioner Madharaasi, was the last big release in Tamil and is running in big screens at present. It is going to be two weeks of theatrical run, and as per reports, Madharaasi is soon set to premiere on Prime Video. The film is expected to stream from October 3 onwards on the platform. Subscribers of OTTplay Premium can upgrade their existing plans with Prime Video to watch the content soon. An official announcement on the OTT release date is expected to be made in the coming weeks.

Madharaasi is written and directed by filmmaker AR Murugadoss, in his comeback to Tamil cinema after nearly five years since the release of the 2020 Rajinikanth film Darbar. The film revolves around a man suffering from Fregoli delusion who gets recruited by NIA to conduct a secret operation. Madharaasi talks about the impact of gun culture and how adverse it can get.

With Sivakarthikeyan pairing up with AR Murugadoss for the first time, the film also features Kannada actor Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Shabeer Kallarakal, Biju Menon, Vikranth and others in important roles.

While the action sequences were hailed in the film along with Vidyut Jammwal’s sleek performance, Madharaasi also got a fair share of criticism for its inconsistent first half and love story. The film has music scored by Anirudh Ravichander, a frequent collaborator of Sivakarthikeyan. The action thriller is one of the top grossers of Tamil cinema of this year so far. The film is inching towards collecting Rs 100 crore worldwide.
