She has a smile that melts hearts. When she cries, you cry, and when she dances, you can't take your eyes off her. The person being talked about is, of course, the one and only Madhuri Dixit. The gorgeous 90s diva charmed viewers with her inimitable style and talent in films like Tezaab, Parinda, Hum Aapke Hain Koun Mrityudand and Devdas. She then took a break to focus on her married life and made a comeback in 2007. However, in her second innings, her filmography hasn't been at par with her earlier roles. Here are Madhuri Dixit's several attempts at making a comeback.

Aaja Nachle (iTunes, Amazon Prime Video)

Aaja Nachle is a 2007 Indian musical drama that marked Madhuri's comeback after 5 long years. In the film, she plays Dia, a dancer who tries to save her teacher's dance academy. Dia is also a single mom with a scandalous past. While the movie was a box office failure, Madhuri's dance moves were appreciated, earning her a best actress nomination at the 53rd Filmfare Awards.

Dedh Ishqiya (Mubi, Tata Play)

Madhuri's role as Begum Para in 2014's black comedy Dedh Ishqiya was her attempt to try something new. This time she adds dance and poetry to the mix, making for a truly beautiful viewing experience. Her exquisite performance earned Madhuri her 14th Filmfare Best Actress nomination, but the film failed to make waves at the box office.

Bucket List (Sony LIV)

Madhuri made her long-awaited Marathi film debut with the 2018 comedy-drama Bucket List. She plays a middle-aged housewife who makes it her mission to complete her deceased heart donor's bucket list as she learns more and more about the young girl. The heart-warming film was a commercial success, and Madhuri's performance earned her all the praise she rightfully deserves.

Total Dhamaal (Disney+ Hotstar)

Madhuri reunited with her 90s heroes Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgn in the 2019 comic caper Total Dhamaal. Madhuri plays Bindu Patel, one of six eccentric people who will do anything it takes to get their hands on 50 crore. The Indra Kumar directed movie gives a feeling of nostalgia and was declared a huge commercial success. It became the 9th highest-grossing Hindi film of 2019.

Kalank (Amazon Prime Video)

Reunited with her rumoured ex-beau Sanjay Dutt in this period drama, Madhuri plays Bahaar Begum, a brothel madam. Kalank is set in the pre-partition era of India. The film comprised of young stars like Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, who paled in comparison to Madhuri's blinding glow. Although the film was a commercial dud, Madhuri gained her 3rd Filmfare nomination for best actress in a supporting role.
