Earlier during an interaction with PTI, Tamannaah had spoken about playing the role in the Telugu film which Tabu played in the original. She had said, "I've always been an ardent fan of Tabu's work and it's such an honour to reprise a role played by her. The original film has this psychological influence on people and succeeded in inducing a sense of curiosity."
While talking about what she liked about Andhadhun was 'the brilliance of the script and the screenplay, it had no hero or no villain'.
Whereas Nabha had earlier revealed during an interaction with The Times of India that Merlapaka had told them that the Telugu version will be made according to the south-Indian nativity. She added, "So, my character will be tweaked in keeping with the region."
