Aamir Khan has already stated that the adaptation of Mahabharat is being developed as a large-scale franchise. In a new interview, Aamir expressed interest in playing Lord Krishna.

Aamir Khan is all set for the release of Sitaare Zameen Par. Amid this, the actor expressed interest in playing the role of Lord Krishna in Mahabharat. Earlier, the actor-producer mentioned that his long-cherished dream project, Mahabharat, might commence in 2025, but there are major terms and conditions attached.

Speaking at the India@2047 Summit hosted by ABP Live, Aamir Khan mentioned that it is his dream to bring the Mahabharat to life, but admitted that it’s hard to pull off. “Mahabharat will never let you down… but you might let Mahabharat down,” he added.

When asked about which role he would want to play, Khan said that Lord Krishna's character inspires him the most. "The character of Krishna captivates me… I’m very inspired by him,” he said. However, Aamir also mentioned that it is too early to make any solid announcements and added, "I don’t want to make tall claims just yet."

About Mahabharat

Reportedly, Aamir Khan is making a high-budget film based on the Mahabharat. The casting of the film is yet to be finalised. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Khan mentioned that the work on the dream project will commence in 2025 itself.

The film is the story of a disgraced basketball coach who is given the task of training a team of neurodivergent adults for community service. It explores themes of connection and rediscovery through a man's bond with children. The film stars Aamir Khan, Genelia Deshmukh, and 10 newcomers.

The 10 new debutants are Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.

Directed by R.S. Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par will hit theaters on June 20, 2025.
