Mahesh Babu’s first look reveal from Varanasi: It took the team not one, but three attempts to finally show the world Mahesh Babu as Rudra from Varanasi.

The big moment at the Globetrotter event, the reveal of leading man Mahesh Babu as Rudra from Varanasi, ended up as a bit of an embarrassment for the team, especially director SS Rajamouli. When the time came for the first look reveal, on the big screen, everything went pitch black within seconds. A second attempt also failed, and while the technical team scrambled to get it back up, the anchors, Suma and Ashish Chanchlani, tried their best to handle the situation with some light banter, although the latter’s attempt at a compliment for Mahesh Babu spectacularly misfired.
Ashish’s comment that Mahesh just doesn’t age, much like a vampire, did not seem to sit well with the Telugu superstar, as the camera panned to him, looking visibly irked, not just by what was said, but also by the delay in getting the show running. It was, after all, a big deal – the event was being streamed live for millions of viewers.
When they finally got their act together, Rajamouli explained that the team’s pre-show plan to preview the teaser on the big screen had been scuttled midway as it resulted in it being leaked online by someone using a drone camera to capture the visuals. During the live show then, there was a technical issue, owing to which the visuals did not load.
He also used the time to reveal that the film has a Ramayana connect and that the actor's avatar as Lord Ram will be a major hightlight.

Thereafter, though, it was smooth sailing and the first look of Mahesh, wielding a Trishul and riding an ox, flashed on the screen repeatedly, including with the entire cast and crew on stage.
