Mahesh Manjrekar was on the set of Antim: The Final Truth, when he knew his benign condition was bladder cancer. The director was talking to Hindustan Times in a recent interaction where he spoke about his experience.
While shooting for the Salman Khan-starrer, Manjrekar went through three rounds of chemotherapy for three months. Though Khan insisted that he go abroad, he trusted the doctors here, Manjrekar says.
He also feels that had he started the cancer treatment one and a half years back, he could have saved his bladder. However, adds that he was not too affected by the treatment, as he thought he could finish the film as well.
Manjrekar chose to keep his health conditions private. The 63-year old says that he had instructed everyone to not talk about it as well. He didn’t want to make “a big deal out of it” or make it seem like “asking for sympathy.”

Meanwhile, Antim: The Final Truth is getting ready for its theatrical release, though it was decided to be a digital release at first. The filmmaker said that they changed the decision as cinemas got open now, and also for the big budget involved in the making.
The action-thriller starring Salman Khan, Aayush Sharma and Mahima Makwana will be released on 26 November.
