Asif Ali and Mamta Mohandas are teaming up yet again, this time for Maheshum Marutiyum. The upcoming film will see the duo essay the role of a man and woman who seem to be involved in quite a quirky love triangle, with a Maruti 800. The duo had first shared the screen over a decade ago, in 2010’s Kadha Thudarunnu. Many fans may be familiar with the story of how Asif ‘fell in love’ with Mamta on the sets of the film, and the actors recently discussed the same in an interview.

In conversation with IndiaGlitz, Asif and Mamta discussed the same, with the latter recalling how ‘cute’ it had been. Asif joked that this had been Mamta’s response even back then and went on to explain how he had shot the first ever romantic song in his career with Mamta in Kadha Thudarunnu, referring to the song Aaro Paadunnu. “It was the perfect moment to fall in love” Mamta joked.

Mamta recalled how nervous Asif looked when they worked on the song, saying that he looked cute and nervous at the time. “But now he’s learnt how to act, so that’s gone”, she joked again.

Asif was quick to add that now he had learnt how to give better interviews as well. At the time he had made a truthfully innocent remark, and he joked that he did not realise it would be blown out of proportion in this way.

Mamta also spoke of how Asif reminded her of one of her close friends who had passed away at the time they filmed Kadha Thudarunnu, and this made her feel instantly close to Asif. The latter also added that Mamta had tried her best to comfort and calm him when he felt panicky while shooting for the film.

Meanwhile, Maheshum Marutiyum, directed by Sethu, will be released in theatres on March 10, 2023.
