Mamta Mohandas and Asif Ali are gearing up for their first big screen release of the year, in the form of Maheshum Marutiyum. The film, directed by Sethu, will see Mamta and Asif play the role of a young man and woman who find themselves in a love triangle with a Maruti 800. The duo had first shared the screen over a decade ago, in 2010’s Kadha Thudarunnu. In a recent interview, the stars spoke of how much change they found in each other from their first film, to their latest.

In conversation with India Glitz, Mamta said that one of the biggest changes she noticed in Asif was his growth and maturity as a performer, although she joked that he ‘parties very hard’ when the cameras are not rolling. She said that she noticed how he had shed his ‘amateurishness’ when she watched a recent film of his. “It's very nice to see the growth of an actor when he is taking the whole thing very seriously”, she said.

The actress went on to say “ I really like the way he emotes with his eyes”, which she called a big plus. She said that it was very different from when they first worked together, saying that the actor did not seem nervous any more and knew how to use his skills to his advantage. “I am very happy for where he is at his career right now”, she added.

Asif also had a lot to say about Mamta, recalling the time when they shot for a song in Maheshum Marutiyum. He revealed that Mamta had taken everything into her hands smoothly, just like senior actors do, asking intelligent questions and leaving him baffled.

Maheshum Marutiyum, which is written and directed by Sethu, will hit cinemas on March 10, 2023.
