Ranjan Ghosh’s Mahishasur Marddini’s trailer was dropped recently. Now the film that features Rituparna Sengupta, Parambrata Chatterjee, Saswata Chatterjee, and others will be released on November 11. Even before its release, the film travelled to several festivals and was screened at a number of universities across India. Along with big stars, the film also features young theatre actors, including Sritama Dey, Aryuun Ghosh, Arunima Halder, and Abhyuday Dey. Koushik Kar, Shaheb Bhattacharya, and Poulomi Das are there in special characters.

The trailer of the film narrates the dark realities of society in which the goddess Durga is worshipped and yet women's rights are violated. The dialogues in the trailer question the age-long superstitions and the political influences to break communal harmony. The film tells the story of injustice, past and present, directed at women. Earlier, in an interview with us, Ranjan said, “After all the symbolic puja and celebrations, I want to present the reality of everyday Durgas around us. I want to show how the powerful women around us are usually treated by society in this film.” The last-minute post-production work is in full swing
