Maiden teaser of Agnyathavasi, mystery thriller produced by Hemanth M. Rao, out on THIS date

Filmmaker Hemanth M. Rao announced his third production venture back in April 2022 with director Janardhan Chikkanna of Gultoo fame at the helm. Titled Agnyathavasi, the film is a moody thriller set in the late 1990s against the backdrop of the alluring western ghats of Karnataka.

Janardhan Chikkanna is joined by Rangayana Raghu, Paavana Gowda and Siddu Moolimani who make up the principal cast of Agnyathavasi with Sharath Lohithashwa and others playing key roles in the film. Guru Krishnaraj has penned the story of the film and also written the screenplay.

Having completed the shooting, team Agnyathavasi is now ready with the first video teaser of the film which will be released on April 7. The team has unveiled a new poster which shows Rangayana Raghu's central character semi-concealed behind a burning saree, thus evoking a lot of intrigue among the audience. 

In his previous interviews, Janardhan Chikkanna has alluded to the fact that mystery, as a storytelling element, plays a huge role in the narrative of Agnyathavasi, adding that he was attracted to take on the director's role after coming across writer Guru Krishnaraj's story.

Janardhan adds that the story of the film revolves mainly around the characters played by the veteran actor Rangayana Raghu, Paavana Gowda and Siddu Moolimani with Sharath Lohithashwa and Ravi Shankar Gowda playing 'crucial incidental roles'.

Charan Raj, a well-known collaborator of Hemanth M. Rao, scores the music of Agnyathavasi and one can expect this to be one of the main highlights. The proficient crew also includes Ullas Hydur for production design, Advaitha Gurumurthy as the cinematographer and Bharath M.C. as the editor.

When asked about the potential release date of the film, producer Hemanth said that the team is currently pursuing a 'disruptive strategy' to bring out the film in theatres. But should things fall in place soon enough, Agnyathavasi could arrive in cinema halls in June 2023.
