Main Hoon Na has an unshakeable place in Bollywood. The 2004 film, which became a hit at the box office, marked Farah Khan's directorial debut. Shah Rukh Khan, Zayed Khan, Suniel Shetty, Sushmita Sen and Amrita Rao were among the stellar cast of the film. Zayed recently opened up about how he came to be a part of the popular film.

In conversation with Pinkvilla, Zayed talked about how he had reached out to choreographer Farah to request her to do a song for his film Chura liya hai tumne. At the time, the actor was unaware of Farah’s intention to delve into filmmaking. When he had met up with her, she had said that Zayed was being considered for a role in Main Hoon Na and as the duo were talking, Shah Rukh Khan joined their conversation.

Zayed recalled how SRK talked about how they were looking for a second lead in the film and how Farah saw ‘good potential’ in the former. SRK had then posed a question to Zayed. SRK had asked him“ Tujhe acting aati hai na?”.

“I was a little sort of disturbed by that question,” recalled Zayed. He said that he wanted to respond with something along the lines of how he was born into a family of actors and how ‘acting was in his blood’. But the actor ultimately said ‘Come on man, I am born to act’.

Zayed had shown Farah a few of his ‘rushes’ and the filmmaker had quickly made her choice. The actor talked about how, initially, Farah had no intention of entertaining him, but he had persisted and kept calling her until he gave him a chance. He said that ‘amazing things’ can happen if one keeps on being persistent and constant in one’s actions.

Main Hoon Na can be streamed on Netflix.
