The much-loved Punjabi jodi of Gurnam Bhullar and Sonam Bajwa is back, this time with Main Viyah Nahi Karona Tere Naal. The trailer of their upcoming film is out and it has a Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) reference that shines out in the three-minute clip. The leads also clear out why the film is titled Main Viyah Nahi Karona Tere Naal through the latest video.
The ‘Urban Pendu’ (Gurnam) meets a ‘desi babe’ in Sonam. The two have a ‘palat’ moment every now-and-then, before falling in love and there is a twist even with that. The love is one-sided or at least that’s how our ‘urban pendu’ Pooran presents himself.
Watch the trailer here:
At the beginning of the story, Pooran pretends to be in love with Sonam’s character Mannat while she ignores him. The one thing that brings them close? When he helps her get closer to her dreams.
The two even get into a relationship but does it reach a wedding? Well, yes, but Pooran refuses to accept his feelings and ends up hinting, “Main Viyah Nahi Karona Tere Naal.” The actor uses the common excuse – “She’s not my type.”
Being a desi Punjabi kudi, she definitely loses it and gives it back. Not just that, a man is also seen calling out Pooran stating, “Saari bandiyan nu jhappiyan paa ke, hudde kehnda mainu viyah nahi karona tere naal? (You give every girl a hug and then tell Mannat that you wouldn’t marry her?)”
Pooran and Mannat go on a crazy ride together. They run away, almost get married and the cherry on the cake comes in the form of the DDLJ reference. Pooran, who is a playboy that cannot stand desi girls, recalled how Raj (Shah Rukh Khan’s character in DDLJ) went to Simran (Kajol’s character in the film)’s house to ask for her hand in marriage. He also recalls the iconic ‘Jaa Simran Jaa’ scene but Mannat, being the desi girl who is not into films, refuses to believe him.
Main Viyah Nahi Karona Tere Naal marks Gurnam and Sonam’s reunion after Guddiyan Patole. Directed by Rupinder Inderjit, the film is slated to release in theatres on March 4.
The movie is backed by Zee Studios. While the OTT release for Main Viyah Nahi Karona Tere Naal is not yet announced, it is likely to start streaming on Zee5 post its theatrical release.
