Kamal Haasan’s Tamil action-thriller Vikram still reigns supreme at the box office after Monday, with both Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj and Adivi Sesh’s Major slowing down. Akshay Kumar-starrer Samrat Prithviraj’s never got going at the box office, with the movie having a slow first weekend and now only amassing an additional Rs 5.15 Cr on Monday.

Currently, the Bollywood period film, which revolves around the 12th century Rajput king Prithviraj Chauhan, has only collected close to Rs 44 Cr after Monday. This is only 50% of what was expected from the superstar’s much-anticipated film. According to trade analysts, the movie is now expected to rake in about Rs 60 crore after its first week, with films such as Jurassic World: Dominion and the South release of Rakshit Shetty’s 777 Charlie set to hit theatres on June 10.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil’s Vikram is still going strong on the box office, raking in Rs 163 crore after its first weekend and Rs 175 crore on Monday in worldwide earnings. The movie is expected to cross Rs 200 crore barrier well before it completes a week, and isn’t expected to slow down even with new releases next weekend.

Vikram also beat recent Bollywood superhit Bhool Bhulaiyya 2’s box office figures of Rs 150 cr within four days of its release. Vikram collected Rs 2.25 crore from the Hindi belt in the past few days.

Adivi Sesh’s Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan biopic, Major, is also witnessing growth after a tepid start. The movie has already collected Rs 36 crore after its first weekend and is on track to overtake Samrat Prithviraj’s box office earnings. Major however is expected to slow down with Nani and Nazriya Nazim’s Ante Sundaraniki hitting theatres in Telugu states on June 10. Major, however, did better business than Vikram in the North India belt collecting Rs 4.55 crore from the box office, according to a report in Pinkvilla.
