With just a month left for Raayan's release, the makers of the upcoming Tamil film released a new poster of the action drama, on social media. Raayan is written and directed by actor Dhanush, who also stars in the film in the lead role. Raayan marks Dhanush's 50th outing as an actor.

Raayan is an upcoming Tamil film starring Dhanush in the lead role. The film is set to release in big screens on July 26. Ahead of the release, the makers released a new poster of Raayan. The poster shows the main cast of the film - Dhanush along with actors Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishan and Dushara Vijayan. Each of them sports an intense look, with three of them except Dhanush holding a bucket.

The upcoming action drama is written and directed by Dhanush, marking his second directorial film after Pa Pandi. Raayan also stars Prakash Raj, SJ Suryah, Selvaraghavan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Aparna Balamurali, in key roles. The music for the film has been composed by AR Rahman and there is also a dance number choreographed by Prabhudheva.

Raayan is backed by Sun Pictures. Contrary to many reports which said Raayan is penned by Selvaraghavan, the director had clarified that the script belongs to Dhanush.

Earlier, there were reports that Raayan revolves around Dhanush’s character of the same name, who is a cook at a restaurant in North Madras. The story of the upcoming gangster drama takes a turn when, at one point, the mystery of his past is revealed, which shocks everyone around him. Apparently, the ordinary cook is a former gangster who has a secret past.

Meanwhile, Dhanush is also working with Sekhar Kammula in Kubera. It will be a Tamil-Telugu bilingual film. The actor is also headlining the upcoming biopic of Ilaiyaraaja, the veteran music composer. In Hindi, Dhanush will be working with filmmaker Aanand L. Rai in Tere Ishq Mein.
