The shoot for Superstar Rajinikanth's Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is in full swing. The first schedule has kickstarted in Chennai along with Tamanaah, Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu. Rajinikanth is yet to join the sets. The star cast also includes Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar, Vasanth Ravi, Vinayakan to name a few. The film is bankrolled by Sun Pictures. Much to the delight of the fans, the production house surprised Rajinikanth fans with the release of the announcement theme music. Music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander, who is teaming up with the Superstar for the third time after Petta and Darbar.
The first look of the film was released earlier and going by the look, it looks like Rajinikanth will play a strict disciplinarian and authoritarian in the film. The title announcement poster, on the other hand, had a blood-soaked meat cleaver hanging from a chain in a dilapidated building. While cinematography for the film will be by Vijay Karthik Kannan, who had earlier cranked the camera for Nelson's Doctor and editing will be by R Nirmal. Kiran will be in charge of the art direction.
The last release of Rajinikanth was Annaththe, which didn't work with the audience and hence, fans are eagerly looking forward to the release of Jailer. Nelson Dilipkumar, whose Beast received mixed reviews at the box office, is also looking forward to bounce back with the film. There is also a buzz that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be playing the leading lady in the film, but there is confirmation on the same yet. The film also marks the comeback of Ramya Krishnan in a Rajinikanth film, after her memorable performance as Neelambarai in Padayappa (1999). She reprised the character in a cameo in Rajinikanth's Baba (2002) as well. This is Rajinikanth's 169th film and is also being referred to as Thalaivar169.
