Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor were head over heels in love with each other until they went their separate ways. After dating for a few years, the duo broke up earlier this year. At Singham Again's promotional event, Arjun confirmed his break-up with Malaika by declaring that he is 'single'. Now, Malaika has finally reacted to the Bollywood actor confirming their break-up at a public event. The actress mentioned whatever Arjun said was his 'prerogative'.

In an interview with the Times of India, Malaika Arora said she is a private person. The actress added that she doesn't wish to elaborate much on certain aspects of her life.
"I will never choose a public platform to talk about my personal life. So, whatever Arjun has said is entirely his prerogative. I just want to say that, yes, it has been a very trying year for various reasons," said Malaika. The actress added that it is time to move on from whatever transpired in the year that went by.
Malaika shared that she is ready for the New Year and a new start in her life. Arora reportedly began dating Arjun in 2018. It was in 2019 that they made their relationship official through social media. Despite their break-up, they are on cordial terms. Kapoor stood by Malaika's side when she lost her father earlier this year.

On Raj Shamani's podcast, Arjun revealed why he was there for Malaika after her father's death. "When what happened with Dad and Khushi-Janhvi, there was an impulse. And in this case, also, there was an instinct and impulse. If I’ve formed an emotional bond with somebody, I would always like to believe that I will be there regardless of the good and the bad," he shared.
