Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and renowned filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery are now gearing up for the massive release of their ambitious project, Malaikottai Vaaliban. Expectations are riding high on the period fantasy drama, which marks the first collaboration of the actor-director duo. The makers of Malaikottai Vaaliban have been treating the Mohanlal fans and cine-goers with exciting posters and promotional videos of the film for the past few weeks.
The cast and crew members of the highly anticipated film addressed the media at a press meet, which was held in Ernakulam today (January 18, 2024). Interestingly, the team finally reacted to the speculations on the Malaikottai Vaaliban sequel and made some exciting revelations.
Mohanlal and team react to rumours on Malaikottai Vaaliban sequel
When they were asked about the speculations on the Malaikottai Vaaliban sequel, the cast and crew members had an interesting reaction. Shibu Baby John, the producer of the film, did not confirm or deny the reports on the film’s second installment. However, he confirmed that some big surprises are indeed in store for the Malayalam cinema audiences. But Shibu Baby John’s reaction to the question has clearly raised the curiosity of film fanatics.

Mohanlal, however, reacted to the journalists’ questions in his signature humorous style and stated that the audiences should decide if they want a second part or not, after watching the film. Later, the Malayalam superstar further asked the audience to first decide if they wanted to watch Malaikottai Vaaliban, or not. Director Lijo Jose Pellissery, on the other hand, refrained from commenting on the same and just hinted that it is a film that has lots of hidden details and surprises in store.
Mohanlal about his unique role and intro
When he was asked about his intro scene in Malaikottai Vaaliban, Mohanlal once again won the audience with his hilarious reply. The superstar stated that his character is introduced skillfully in the film. The multiple National award-winner further added that he can’t comment on the rumours that suggest his intro scene is going to 'shake' the theatres. He further asked the audience to not come back and scold him, if the intro didn’t create the rumoured impact.
In the press meeting, the veteran actor also stated that Malaikottai Vaaliban is a ‘one-of-its-kind film’ and added that a movie in such a genre was not made in Indian cinema before. Mohanlal revealed that the Lijo Jose Pellissery directorial narrates a unique story that is placed beyond all geographies and timelines but still has all the elements that a wholesome film needs.
