Petta and Thangalaan fame Malavika Mohanan’s latest in Malayalam is her first film with superstar Mohanlal, called Hridayapoorvam. It’s also the film that has her working with veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikkad. The actress, who will soon be seen in Rebel Star Prabhas’ Raja Saab, has just completed the first schedule of Hridayapoorvam, a month that she says has been thoroughly enriching.
In a long social media post after wrapping up the first schedule of Hridayapoorvam, in which she also shared on the set images with Mohanlal, Sathyan and the cast and crew of the film, she wrote, that she had the privilege of working with some of the most talented people on a set that felt like a family. This, she said, was “Beautiful, warm, wholesome, heartwarming.”
Malavika added, “Learned so much from the stalwarts- Mohanlal sir & Sathyan Sir. Just watching them, having them guide me, seeing how they bring cinematic magic to life, and all of this they do with so much of dignity and respect and grace.” Amid reminiscing about the cold evenings amid beautiful hills and the tea estates of Thekkady, the actress also had a special shout-out for Sathyan’s direction team, stating that it was the loveliest team of assistant directors, without whom, Hridayapoorvam would not be what it is.
Hridayapoorvam, meanwhile, is director Sathyan’s first collaboration with Mohanlal in a decade, their last being 2015’s Ennum Eppozhum. The director-actor combo has worked on films like Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam, Gandhinagar 2nd Street, T. P. Balagopalan M.A., Nadodikkatu, Pattana Pravesham, Varavelpu, Pingami, Rasathanthram, Innathe Chintha Vishayam, Snehaveedu, among others.
Not much is currently known about Hridayapoorvam, but given the director’s brand of cinema, the expectation is that it will be a wholesome family entertainer. The film is based on a story by the director’s son, Akhil Sathyan, with newbie TP Sonu credited with the screenplay.
