Veteran Malayalam actor Innocent has been moved to ventilator support after his health condition showed no signs of improvement, according to reports. The actor, who was admitted to a private hospital in Kochi, was reportedly responding to medication a few days ago, but his condition has now become critical.

The actor, who was brought to the hospital a few days ago due to a suspected cancer relapse, was immediately admitted to the ICU. He had complained of uneasiness and body exhaustion, as per reports.

Innocent, known for his versatile roles in films such as Ramji Rao Speaking, Vietnam Colony, Devasuram, Kilukkam and Sandesham, is 73 years old and had made his debut in 1972 with Nirthashala. He is a regular face in movies of veteran filmmakers such as Priyadarshan and Sathyan Anthikad, and has acted with all major superstars in the film industry.

In his career spanning five decades, the actor has won three Kerala State Film Awards and acted in over 750 movies. He has acted in films in English, Hindi and Tamil incliding Lesa Lesa and Malamaal Weekly. The actor also served as a politician. Though he had won elections from Irijalakuda Municipality in the late 70s, Innocent was chosen as the MP and served his tenure from 2014 to 2019. He lost the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 to Benny Behanan.

Innocent was also the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes for 12 years, before he had relinquished that post to Mohanlal.
