Malayalam actress Niya Sankarathil to make her debut in Tamil

Model-turned-actress Niya Sankarathil, who has a few Malayalam films in her kitty, is all set to make her debut in Tamil. Though the deets about the film are yet to be announced, it is said to be made by a top production house.

In the meantime, Niya is playing the leading lady in one of Malayalam's celebrated filmmakers Vinayan’s upcoming movie, which is set against a historical backdrop. Titled Paththonbadaam Noottaandu (19th Century), the film features Premam fame Siju Wilson, in the lead role. Paththonbadaam Noottaandu is a period action drama, which will revolve around the life of a fiery chieftain, Arattupuzha Velayudha Panicker. It will focus on the reformer's fight against the oppression marginalised castes by members of the dominant castes. The film has an ensemble cast and is said to be being made on a large scale. 

Initially, we hear that Niya was a little nervous to make her debut in a historical movie as her character demanded a lot from her. Nonetheless, filmmaker Vinayan made her nervousness go away. 

Incidentally, Niya was supposed to be a part of director Vinayan’s previous movies, but couldn’t be due to certain reasons. However, she is now on cloud nine after getting an opportunity to work with him in this movie. Niya says that working with more than 200 artistes on the sets has been a great experience. 

This apart, she recently teamed up with ‘Beast’ fame actor Shine Tom Chacko in a Malayalam movie. These movies are lined up for release shortly. The actress is now working on a couple of promising projects in Tamil as well. 

Niya hails from Pathanamthitta in Kerala. Though the actress initially wanted to pursue a career in nursing, but eventually, took the plunge into mdoelling and acting. Niya says that she wants to take up characters that give scope for performance.
