Malayalee From India, the comedy-drama which stars Nivin Pauly in the lead role, emerged as a below-average grosser at the box office. The movie directed by Dijo Jose Antony earned praise for its performances and music. However, the writing and pace received major criticisms from the audiences. Malayalee From India recently had its OTT release on Sony LIV, and the Nivin Pauly-starrer has been receiving mixed reactions from the netizens. Interestingly, many viewers feel that the movie was degraded by the theatre audience.
Interestingly, many viewers, who skipped the film in theatres due to the negative reviews, are appreciating Malayalee From India after its OTT release on Sony LIV. Many of the netizens feel that the Nivin Pauly-starrer was unnecessarily degraded by the theatre audiences, for no particular reason. Especially some of the important scenes in the film that feature Salim Kumar’s character and religious unity have been receiving appreciation from the OTT viewers.
However, another section of viewers share the same opinion of theatre audiences and are stating that the Nivin Pauly-starrer is a ‘cringe fest’ that disappoints big time. The same ‘Muthappan’ scene that received love from a section of viewers has left others highly disappointed. Many of the OTT viewers feel that the inconsistent writing, amateur dialogues, and forced humour made the Dijo Jose Antony film a painful watch. They are also claiming that the Nivin starrer is a mix of many popular films from Malayalam and other languages.
Nivin Pauly played the protagonist Aalparambil Gopi, a jobless, carefree man in the film, which is scripted by Sharis Mohammed. Dhyan Sreenivasan played Malghosh KP, the best friend of Gopi, while Anaswara Rajan appeared as the protagonist’s love interest Krishna. Salim Kumar, Deepak Jethi, Manju Pillai, Shine Tom Chacko, Nandhu, Aju Varghese, and others appeared in supporting roles.
Jakes Bejoy composed songs and the original score for the film. Sudeep Elamon is the director of photography. Sreejith Sarang handled the editing. Malayalee From India, which is produced by Listin Stephen, is currently available for streaming on Sony LIV in seven languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, and Marathi.
