M.S. Raju's Malli Pelli has managed to grab the attention of the Telugu Cinema audience for various reasons. While a majority of them seem rather frivolous and intrusive, one of the main factors concerning the current hype of the film is the fact that it is led by the real-life couple Naresh and Pavithra Lokesh. The couple's relationship, to refresh your memory, began on a rather tricky and unsavoury note when it attracted the scrutiny of tabloid media and without any onus or responsibility, the media surrounded them with unnecessary controversies.

Neither Naresh nor Pavithra Lokesh had any qualms about disclosing the status of their relationship but one gathers that all the frenzy inhibited them from being honest and open about the matter. And it would seem that the upcoming film, which is scheduled to release on May 26 in theatres (also as Matthe Maduve in Kannada), is meant to be their combined unequivocal account of how things transpired.

But is Malli Pelli the real-life love story of Pavithra Lokesh and Naresh? Well, the entire world seems curious to know the answer to that at this point and to amp up the interest further, the team, too, has refrained from stating a clear answer. Media has continued to claim that, quite undoubtedly, the film is the 'true story' along with a few fictional elements, but when Naresh was quizzed about the same during his recent Kannada interview with a news channel, he said:

"The film is going to release soon so you will know whether it is a real story or not. But one thing I would like to say is that this (Malli Pelli) is the real story of half of the world. Couples across half of the world are going through THIS - beyond this, I don't want to reveal much but quite definitely, once the film releases, many of us will find it relevant and relatable".

And Pavithra Lokesh, in the same vein, added, "If you think that is the real story after watching the trailer, then that's your perspective. But I feel that you will walk away feeling different once you watch the entire film".
