Mama Mascheendra: After an obese avatar, Sudheer Babu is now an ageing yet badass gangster in a new look

From SMS to Hunt, Sudheer Babu, in his decade-long stint as an actor, has always been game for new, exciting ideas and is never afraid to break stereotypes. It’s not surprising that several first time directors readily approach him with their new ideas. After Hunt, he plays the lead role in Mama Mascheendra, an action entertainer that marks the directorial debut of writer, actor Harshavardhan.

Eesha Rebba and Mirnalini Ravi are cast as the female leads in the film produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under Sree Venkateswara Cinemas (of Asian Group). Sudheer Babu will be seen in multiple looks in the film. While a new look of his obese avatar, Durga, was out earlier this week, another glimpse from the film showcases him as an elderly gangster.

While donning black suit and grey shirt, he is seated on a chair sporting a no-nonsense expression. His role is titled Parasuram. Barring the tacky wig, Sudheer Babu appears at ease in the look. The makers confirmed that the third and the final look of the star, in the shoes of a hep DJ, will be out on March 7. Sonali Narang and Srishti (of Srishti Celluloid) present this bilingual, simultaneously shot in Telugu and Hindi.

Writer-turned-director Harshavardhan was to make his debut with Sreemukhi starrer titled Good Bad Ugly though the film has never seen the light of the day owing to a few financial issues faced by the producer. He was also the dialogue writer of hits like Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde, Manam and is quite popular his character roles in several mainstream films across decades.

Chaitan Bharadwaj scores the music for the film which has cinematography by PG Vinda. Rajeev is the art director. Sudheer Babu’s earlier release Hunt, directed by Mahesh Surapaneni, can be streamed on aha and Amazon Prime.
